Koç University recognized by Higher Education Council as a “Research University”

Within the framework of Higher Education Council’s (YÖK) “Research-Focused Mission Differentiation Project”, Koç University was officiallu identified, along with two other foundation universities, as a “Research University“.

Using the Research University Performance Monitoring Index, under 32 indicators and three main categories (“Research Capacity”, “Research Quality”, “Interaction and Collaboration”), our university was evaluated positively and included in YÖK’s project.

Our faculty’s national and international awards, our success as the leading university (with %25 budget share among Turkish universities) under Horizon 2020, our locomotive role in the ERC programme (hosting 21 out of 38 projects hosted in Türkiye) all support our pioneering position among Turkish research universities. As a hub of research excellence, Koç University is taking big steps in research and its official recognition as a research university gratly encouraged our community.

Within YÖK’s program, special public funding for research, allocation of additional staff positions, supports for doctoral research abroad and extra opportunities for participating in TUBITAK’s “1004: Support Scheme for Centers of Excellence” will be available.
